Three Types Of Roaches That Can Be Found In The House
There are 4000 odd species of cockroach in the world. Only three, however, are known to invade our workplaces & homes and cause problems. There are a couple of other species that are similar, but are seen in the home a little less often. Each cockroach has its own different characteristics & all like somewhat different things. Nonetheless, they are all pests which can cause great health dangers & damage to us and the people we love.
Identifying these roaches is pretty simple and can aid in extermination techniques. It could be the first step in iradication and control. Here are the 3 main common cockroaches.
American Cockroach
The American cockroach can grow up to 25mm in length. It has a reddish brown color & single stripe on the head. These creatures love the taste of liquor. Hence, they are frequently seen in pubs or at home after party where beer, wine & alcohol was present. They have a life span of up to one & half years. Their incubation period is from 6 to 8 weeks.
German Cockroach
These kinds of cockroach has 2 lighter stripes on the back of its head, and boast of a tan or brownish color. They can grow up to lengths of 15mm. It is probably breeds the fastest in comparison to the cockroaches, giving birth to around 30 to 40 nymphs with an incubation period of 30 days. At this rate, one cockroach can multiply into 30,000 in just a year. They can live for around 6 months.
Oriental Cockroach
They are probably the biggest of these three. It grows around 25mm in length. These critters are a dark brown or black color with a shiny body and move generally slower than the other cockroaches. They are sometimes called the water bug because they like to live in dark, damp areas. They are most probably seen in cellars or damp mulch. Incubation can last two months with about 15 eggs hatching and they can each live for up to two years.
